Do you ever feel that society pressures you into dating? Like when everyone else is settling down and you know that this is that time of life when you “should” be dating, but you just aren’t. Sometimes dating just isn’t at the top of our priority list. We want to focus on school, friends, job, etc. However, we can focus on all of those things, but when we are in this time of singleness, our main priority should be Jesus.
For the longest time, I felt like I should be dating someone, whether it was because most of my friends were, or if my family just bugged me about it at thanksgiving dinner. I just felt like society always had this pressure on me to be in a relationship with someone. But lately, it just hasn’t been on my priority list. Now I’m not saying I never want to date someone, and that I want to be alone for the rest of my life (LOL please no). When I see pictures of cute couples on social media, yes I do want that eventually. But I don’t need it right now.
While we are in this time of accepting singleness, we need to have our eyes on Jesus.
That sentence above basically says everything. Yes, it’s great to focus on the earthly things like school, a job, your career, etc. But we need to pay more attention to the things that will matter later in heaven. Our relationship with Jesus is so important to our spiritual health. We need to spend time with Him.
Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. – Colossians 3:2
So take your bible, and go on dates with Jesus. Go to the park, or a coffee shop and just listen to Him speak. Hear what He is trying to tell you in this season. And even if you are in a relationship with someone, you can still spend time with Jesus by yourself. Our relationship with Jesus needs to be at the top of our priority list. Spend time with Him and let Him feel your heart.
Love Always,
Claire
